Week 15: December 7 to December 13
BLOG top Week FIFTEEN: This week you got to see how Flash uses Behaviors to do some pretty amazing feats without having you do the ActionScripting. Pick one of the Behaviors you particularly like and try to promote the benefits of using it to your classmates.
Week 14: November 30 to December 6
BLOG topic Week FOURTEEN: If there is one thing that people almost expect to get with a Flash movie is sound. Sound can be an effective way to communicate and sometimes it can be off-putting; your job is to walk that thin line between both. Discuss what your own opinions are about sound in a Flash movie or Flash Web page. What if a visitor doesn't have speakers or has a hearing disability? Will this impact your Flash movie in any way? What do you think can be done about this?
Week 13: November 23 to November 29
BLOG topic Week THIRTEEN: Flash Movie Clips are extremely powerful and flexible objects that have their own Timelines. I've shown you how to make them and by now, you probably have done one of the exercises too. So, tell me what a Movie Clip is and how to see if it is working properly, and why you should possibly make all Flash graphics into Flash Movie Clip Symbols? Bet you didn't see that one coming!
Week 12: November 16 to November 22
BLOG topic Week TWELVE: Animation is a very broad label for the activities you are getting into this week in Flash. Animation comes by duplicating and then moving individual elements on the stage, sometimes with Frame-by-Frame animation and sometimes with Motion or Shape Tween animation. Please discuss the differences between these and why you'd pick one type over the other. What part does Symbols play with Animation?
Week 11: November 9 to November 15
BLOG topic Week ELEVEN: The Flash Library holds all of your important files and is saved along with your FLA documents. There are built-in Libraries and Libraries you can link to as well. One element that can be found in these Libraries is called a Symbol. Please discuss what these are, what kind exist and why you should use them or just ignore them entirely?
Week 10: November 2 to November 8
BLOG Topic for Week TEN: In the course packet I have you creating some simple graphics in Flash, plus you get to convert Bitmaps into Vectors. In Exercise 4 you learned how to trace a Bitmap graphic and then turn it into a Vector graphic. After you have worked with these tools you should be able to distinguish the differences between the Fireworks Tools and the Flash Tools. Do you get the connection that exists between the two programs and do you think you can do without using Fireworks of PhotoShop and work directly in Flash?

Week 9: October 26, to November 1, 2009
In this last week to play with your 'finger paints', Fireworks, I've provided exercises that use Disjointed Rollovers and for those of 'stout heart', Multiple Disjointed Rollovers. These exercises are all guaranteed to work ONLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO FOLLOW DIRECTIONS CAREFULLY! Yes I know that's not polite to shout but this time it's necessary.
My question this week is simple, WHY?, why even bother to teach this concept? Will it be just for fun or do you think there might be some underlying usefulness involved here?

Week 8: October 19, to October 25, 2009
Fireworks is as graphic programs go, about as easy as it gets to learn; yes, I said that and you're thinking "what planet did he come from?", but it's really true. After you get used to some of the new tools you've probably never have seen before, it does get easier. My question to you this week is, for a real beginner to this stuff, what is the most difficult thing to grasp about the software and/or the exercises? Answer in a fashion that could lead me to developing a method of teaching Fireworks that would be less difficult or daunting to grasp.
Week 7: October 12, to October 18, 2009
This week you are being introduced to a wonderful graphics program aimed at folks just like you. This is not a PhotoShop or Illustrator program, but it is powerful enough to do just about anything you want it to do. There are a few things you'll need to learn, but what the hell, you're in college, aren't you supposed to be learning stuff? What makes Fireworks CS4 powerful is its ability to use Vector Graphics and Bitmap Graphics. Fireworks not only makes graphics to be used in Dreamweaver, but also creates the files that Flash can use as well. Flash is a Vector program, so there it is again, what are the differences between vector and bitmap? Describe them in your own words, if you copy and paste their meanings, you'll learn nothing but how to copy and paste. Why would you want to use one over the other? This is an important feature to learn about and this is the week to start.
Week 6: October 5 to October 11, 2009
Web designers have been able to make interactive Forms with basic form elements for years. Now you have been introduced to those basic elements too. With all the concern over identity theft, asking for personal information could be met with resistance from your visitors. So unless you arrange for a secure Web site at an expense you may not wish to pay for, you must come up with questions that do not compromise your visitors safety.
Finally getting to the point, what can we ask, and what do we really need to know from our visitors on these forms anyway?

Week 5: September 28, to October 4, 2009
This week, for those of you who have at least the Studio 8 version of Dreamweaver or the CS3 version, will have the ability to do some of the Behavior exercises. One of my favorite behaviors is the Drag behavior for DIVs coupled with a timeline activity. What behavior have you tried with success? Can you come up with some ideas to use any of these on one of your pages? Behaviors add a level of interaction to a page, is this a good thing, or bad thing?
Week 4: September 21 to 27, 2009
This week you are beginning to stretch your new abilities using Dreamweaver to build Web pages. And, in that respect, CSS has been dropped in your lap. I'd like to hear your comments about CSS (Cascading Style Sheets); what are they? What possible benefit will you derive from using them in your Web site? Can CSS help you in your goal to become as accessible as possible on your site? Any of these and other related comments are welcome this week. Think about CSS as your friend?

Week 3: September 14, 2009
In your textbook you'll see that Chapter 3 deals with Lists, Intro to CSS, and Images. My exercises centered on Divs verses Tables. (We will get into Cascading Style Sheets soon, and Divs are covered in depth in week four of this class).
I'd like you to discuss your knowledge about placing images into Web pages and Web page background images.
* How do these images affect those people with limited or no vision?
* What can be done to help them know about your images?
* What do you do with Link-button images on the page?
* What if you decide to use background images, how important should that be for those individuals that have no sight?
* If it is intended for only the sighted on the Web, are the vision impaired people being cheated of this feature of yours?
Looking for some gut-level thinking and emotion here; this is not really a go to google to find out thing.

Week 2: September 7, 2009
The Blog topic this week has to do with what goes in the HEAD of a Web Page Document. Meta Tags belong in all Web sites, what are they for and why should you use them?
